Genda Chen is a professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology. His research interests are related to structural control, structural health monitoring, interfacial mechanics of composite structures, and multi-hazard effects on civil infrastructure. Dr. Chen authored and co-authored over 200 publications, including more than 70 journal articles and book chapters. He was a 1998 recipient of National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Awards, the 2009 Missouri S&T Inaugural Faculty Research Award, and the 2004 Joseph H. Senne, Jr. Academy of Civil Engineers Faculty Achievement Award. Dr. Chen is Associate Editor of ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, and a recent Guest Editor of a special issue of Structural Engineering and Mechanics. He is Chair of the ASCE Performance-Based Design of Structures Committee, Secretary of the ASCE Structural Control Committee, a member of the TRB Seismic Design and Performance of Bridges Committee, and a member of the ASCE Structural Health Monitoring and Control Committee.
