Zhimin Shi was born in Hangzhou, China. He received his Ph.D. degree in Optics from the University of Rochester in 2010. Before that, he received his Bachelor degree with honors from Chu-Ke Chen Honors College, Zhejiang University in 2001, and M.S. degree with honors in Optical Engineering from the same university in 2004. Dr. Shi is currently holding the position of Scientist at The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester. His research interest falls in the general area of nanoscale quantum nonlinear optics, and his recent research topics include slow and fast light, nonlinear plasmonics, nano-composite metamaterials, imaging and communication using quantum states of light, etc.
